There are wealth deities in many of the eastern traditions. The Koreans and Thais have their wealth Buddhas. The Tibetans have their five Jambhala wealth gods. Chinese Taoists regard the Eight Immortals as beings whose presence in the home either on paintings or on decorative items is believed to be most auspicious. But the most popular and powerful wealth gods are the three star gods also known as Fuk Luk Sau.
Placing these wealth deities in the home, especially directly facing the main door is believed to transform incoming chi into most auspicious energy. There are other auspicious sectors to place wealth gods and when special rituals accompany their entrance into the home, their potency in bringing good wealth luck into the home is seriously enhanced. Familiarize yourself with the Chinese deities of wealth, and then get to know the deity of wealth in your own culture.
Tsai Sken Yeh
The Chinese have several deities that they regard as the wealth god. One of the most popular is Tsai Shen Yeh, who is usually depicted offering an ingot of gold and stepping or sitting on a fierce tiger, to symbolize his control over this animal. In the lunar years of the Tiger, displaying the God of Wealth is particularly auspicious. It is not necessary to pray to this deity, simply invite him into your home as a symbolic gesture.
You can also hang a knotted cluster of nine Chinese coins tied with red thread on this wealth deity since this will very effectively activate the prosperity attributes of the coins.
Fuk Luk Sam
The three star gods, or Fuk Luk Sau, are the deities of health, wealth, and prosperity. These deities can be found in many Chinese homes and they are usually placed in the dining room. Fuk Luk Sau can be fashioned out of brass, or molded from porcelain or cloisonné or carved from sandalwood or ivory. Fuk Luk Sau are said to be exceptionally auspicious and should be invited into the home during an auspicious hour on an auspicious day. If they are brought into thehome on the wrong day or hour, their presence does not add very much to the wealth Feng Shui of the home. To check for auspicious days and hours, consult a good authorized translation of the Chinese Almanac.
The best place to display the God of Wealth is on a table, 30 to 33 in (750-800 mm) high, directly facing the main door so that the first thing you see upon entering your home is the wealth god. This placement symbolizes him greeting the chi coming into the home, transforming it into healthy prosperous energy as it flows through the rest of the house.
Of this spot is already occupied, you can place the wealth god diagonally opposite the front door, and again, facing toward it. Of you have a devotional altar or shrine, do not place your wealth god on it since the wealth god is not a god in the religions sense of the word, but is instead a Taoist deity symbolizing the aspiration of wealth.
